For two decades, the Little Rock Water Reclamation Authority has effectively invested our customers’ rates to fuel an improvement plan that protects our community’s public health and environment, and better supports our city’s economic growth. We accomplished this through our Project RENEW initiative.

It began as a need to reduce 339 sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) locations, but the comprehensive planning and use of innovation yielded countless additional benefits.

Below are a few of the many successful outcomes we want to highlight as we champion 20 years of improvements:

Infrastructure

Initially driven by the need to reduce 339 sanitary sewer overflow locations, our comprehensive planning and innovative strategies have achieved this objective and yielded numerous additional benefits.

Improved Operational &
Environmental Efficiency

We’ve invested in technology that fuels processes that allow us to proactively inspect our service lines, so that we can repair lines before they add to costs and service disruptions to homes and businesses. We also implemented technology and programs to help reduce sanitary sewer overflows. These improvements have increased our ability to maintain sewer service lines and our efficiency through natural processes.

Public Education Programs

LRWRA has developed programs that help customers do their part to protect our shared system and one of their greatest investments-their homes! Educational programs were created in a fun and interactive way to teach future generations about the important role of protecting public health and the environment. Also, community partnerships were formed to provide outreach regarding our “One Water. One Future.” commitment.
