Little Rock, AR (Nov. 8, 2021) –The Little Rock Water Reclamation Authority (LRWRA) and the Women of Water (WOW) will host Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett in a virtual fireside chat on Friday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. Dr. Corbett was part of the leadership team instrumental in the groundbreaking research that led to the development of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Fox 16’s Donna Terrell will moderate the discussion. The City of Little Rock, Arkansas Center for Health Improvement, Arkansas Department of Health, Little Rock School District, and the Little Rock Chapter of The Links, Inc. have partnered with LRWRA to host this event. Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett is an assistant professor in the Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She also holds an appointment at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute as the Shutzer Assistant Professor. Corbett comes to Harvard Chan School following more than six years as a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases’ (NIAID) Vaccine Research Center.

In 2019, LRWRA launched Women of Water (WOW) to increase awareness about careers within the water reclamation industry and STEM fields overall. It partnered with the City of Little Rock to proclaim March 28 as Raye Jean Montague Day and annually recognizes the day. Montague was a Little Rock native and is credited with the first computer-generated rough draft of a U.S. naval ship.
