LRWRA Launches “Beneath the Surface” Podcast to Spotlight Infrastructure, Innovation, and Community Impact

Key Highlights: 

  • Inaugural episode: CEO Jean Block sits down with Zach Crumpler, LRWRA’s Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) Specialist, to discuss how partnerships with food service establishments help prevent costly back-ups for businesses and the utility.  
  • “Quick Hits” segment: students from the Clinton School of Public Service share their recent research on the Public Perception of Water Reuse in Little Rock. 
  • Behind the scenes: Hear directly from utility employees about sewer projects and partnerships that support a thriving Little Rock.  

 

Little Rock (June 29, 2026) – Little Rock Water Reclamation Authority (LRWRA) has launched Beneath the Surface: Real People. Real Progress. Real Projects., a new podcast that gives residents an inside look at the work happening every day to protect public health and the environment, and to support a thriving Little Rock. 

Each episode brings listeners inside the sewer system, connecting them to the people and projects that keep Little Rock flowing. The podcast makes complex infrastructure easier to understand and highlights the impact of work most people never see. Each episode will also include a “Quick Hits” segment that will regularly feature an external partner. 

Residents can watch or listen at Beneath the Surface podcast. 

“Our employees have incredible stories and deep expertise,” said CEO Jean Block. “This podcast is a way to showcase them and connect with the community to show the work behind the service that people rely on every day but don’t think about.” 

The first episode features Zach Crumpler, LRWRA’s FOG Specialist, who works with food service establishments across Little Rock to reduce fats, oils, and grease buildup in the sewer system. His work helps prevent costly backups and protects critical infrastructure for businesses and the utility. 

New episodes are being released quarterly and will be available on lrwra.com, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and LRWRA’s YouTube channel, @LittleRockWaterReclamation.
